Road to Hell

Inspired by the Broadway musical Hadestown by AnaÏs Mitchell on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, the game takes place in an apocalyptic world dealing with the struggles of famine and severe climate change. Our characters contrast each other in how they navigate this world: Orpheus, the optimistic idealist, and Eurydice, the pragmatic realist. After a terrible storm, their last belongings are lost. In her desperation for food and shelter, Eurydice makes a deal with Hades, the God of the Underworld, to sell her soul in exchange for work. 

Orpheus, blinded by his desire to fix the world, doesn’t notice until it is too late. Once he learns of her death, he journeys to the Underworld, fighting mythical beasts and his own doubts, to reach the Underworld and get her back. However, Hades won’t let him leave with her so easily, and he must make a bargain. Hades agrees to let them go on one condition: Orpheus must lead her and the other lost souls out of the Underworld without turning to look behind him to assure himself that they follow behind.
